What XPRIZE Healthspan is
A seven-year incentive competition for functional aging outcomes.
XPRIZE is a nonprofit that uses large incentive prizes to accelerate breakthroughs in areas where conventional progress is too slow. XPRIZE Healthspan is a 2023–2030, $101M competition focused on therapies that measurably restore age-related decline in adults 50–80, plus a parallel $10M FSHD bonus track.
The primary Healthspan criterion is explicit: demonstrate restoration of muscle, cognitive, and immune function by at least 10 years (goal: 20 years) in adults aged 50–80, with treatment delivered in one year or less.
- Muscle function: measurable changes in physical strength, mobility, and related functional performance.
- Cognitive function: measurable changes in memory, processing, and executive performance.
- Immune function: measurable changes in immune resilience and response.
- FSHD bonus track: disease-specific improvement in muscle outcomes using imaging and/or validated biomarkers plus functional gain versus controls.
Competition process and Agemica status
A staged funnel from concept to demonstrated human outcomes.
-
2023–2024 - Launch and registration Teams enter the competition and submit therapeutic rationale, mechanism, and study design for qualifying review.
-
2025–2027 - Milestone phases Interim milestones support protocol-led execution and data generation across muscle, cognitive, and immune endpoints.
-
2026 onward - finals-stage evaluation / finalist selection Teams are assessed on safety, accessibility, and demonstrated functional restoration against predefined judging criteria.
-
2030 - Grand prize awards The top team is selected based on performance against the required restoration threshold across all required domains.
Current status
Agemica has advanced as an XPRIZE Healthspan semifinalist. Current work is focused on cohort and study-design preparation with academic partners for finals-stage submission windows.
